A Shelter Island Bachelor Pad Turned Family Home

Nick Gavin and Katrin Thormann renovated and expanded a cottage on Shelter Island previously owned by Melvin Dwork, an interior designer, with help from the New York design firm Workstead. Special care was taken to preserve a number of details, including the pine-paneled ceilings, the lagoon-green ceramic tile floor and the antique black-painted louvers above the living room windows.
