While RAL doesn’t itself manufacture any paints, its color notation system specifies and standardises colors to be used by manufacturing firms. Designer John Minshaw thus requested his cabinetmaker to make up a darkish blue for the kitchen cabinets. Brass faucets and fixtures add class to the merely decorated house, which also features a traditional butler sink. ‘Anyone can pick a paint color, but getting the structure proper is what makes a home,’ says Amanda, who remodeled this Cotswolds dovecote into a family home.
