Tan France has ventured into furniture design for the first time with an 18-piece collection for Castlery, blending transitional and heritage styles with personal touches from his British-Pakistani upbringing.
Heritage meets modern living
The range includes sofas, tables, lamps, and decorative pieces, all designed to fit seamlessly into everyday homes. France’s influence is evident in details like scalloped edges, rich textures, and a tea table—an intentional nod to his family’s traditions.
“I didn’t grow up around coffee tables,” he said. “My family gathered around tea.” Even the Anika Lamp’s domed shape references architectural arches common in Asia, reshaped into what he calls a “mushroom” effect.

The collection avoids the generic. The Kagan sofa offers modular flexibility, while the Tarin side table prioritizes space-saving design. Smaller pieces, like cushions and vases, provide an easier entry point for those hesitant to commit to full furniture overhauls.
For many, celebrity collaborations in homeware can feel predictable. This range, however, leans into moodier, more distinctive elements. The darker oak finishes and ornate detailing give it a weight that’s often missing in mass-market furniture.
