Australian electrical company ZETR has transformed a 1960s garage in New South Wales into a hybrid headquarters that functions as an office, showroom, design studio, and production facility. This transformation required integrating the company’s electrical systems throughout the entire space, enabling its design philosophy to be experienced in real use rather than displayed behind glass. The company’s approach emphasizes how technology can seamlessly enhance built environments without disrupting their aesthetic integrity.
The renovation preserved industrial elements like red brick, concrete, and steel, maintaining the building’s original character while adapting it for modern purposes. Most design decisions were made internally, with fabrication carried out by local Australian makers and fabricators who share the company’s commitment to quality craftsmanship.

The headquarters serves as a testing ground for new ideas about materials, technology, and spatial usage, allowing the team to experiment with innovative configurations. It reflects ZETR’s culture of collaboration and creativity, offering spaces for work, meetings, and informal gatherings that encourage interaction and innovation. Sustainability played a key role in the project, with reused furniture from the RELIVE programme incorporated to reduce waste and promote circular design principles. A vintage Herman Miller desk system sourced through partner Living Edge adds both historical value and functional versatility to the workspace.
Custom-designed pieces include a stone and metal charging station that exemplifies the seamless integration of form and function, while a product display console was crafted using the same techniques applied to ZETR’s electrical products. The result is a workspace that embodies the brand’s ethos, showcasing how deliberate attention to detail can shape a cohesive and inspiring environment for all who use it.
